RBT Position Description

Registered Behavior Technician / Paraeducator Job Description

PARClife seeks current, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) with an active RBT# to join our amazing team. Candidates willing to complete RBT requirements prior to June 10, 2024 may be considered.

  • Location: Plymouth, MI

  • Duration: Ongoing

  • Onsite or Remote: Onsite

  • Full Time or Part Time : FT

​

  • Schedule: hours/week: 

    • Summer Programming  Tweens & Teens and Young Adult Programs 

      • M-Th 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM 

    • Early Learner Program: 

      • M-Th 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

      • Friday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Program age levels:

    •  2-6 years 

    • 11-18 years 

    • 18-35 years

 

Benefits

  • Starting hourly pay - Range is $18-$20/hr

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for a PARClife RBT:

  • 1 year of verifiable, professional experience as an RBT within the last 3 years (may include residency or clinical practicum)

  • Valid Registered Behavior Technician credential/license

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be asked for proof upon hire. We cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

The RBT provides direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and to reduce problematic behaviors in the home and community settings. Under the direction of the Program Manager (Qualified Healthcare Provider), Registered Behavior Technicians will utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate computer and internet literacy 

  • Ability to be a team player and collaborate with our Learner's family and treatment team members, including other professionals, to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment 

  • Understanding of Functional Communication Training (FCT) and its use to prompt safe, socially acceptable replacement behavior to promote a skillset of communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to understand the characteristics of a wide range of intellectual disabilities 

  • Personal understanding and experience with mindfulness or meditation work are preferred.

  • The ability to build relationships and implement functional treatment plans as directed by the Program Manager. 

  • Must be reliable, have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as a positive, can-do attitude

 

Physical and Mental Requirements of the Essential Job Functions

  • Strength (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull): Sedentary (exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally)

  • Standing/Walking: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time

  • Swimming, Yoga, other physical activity

  • Must be able to work under stress and remain calm and professional.
